Science - Mātauranga Pūtaiao
Students learn practical and experimentation skills to problem solve and make informed decisions. The challenges and opportunities that confront our world need to be approached from a scientific perspective, taking into account social and ethical considerations. Students develop an understanding of the world, built on current scientific theories, and apply them to everyday situations. Students studying senior science courses leave knowing how
scientists work.
This involves:
• Gathering and interpreting data from valid investigations
• Using and critiquing evidence
• Interpreting representations and making informed decisions
• Being creative and finding solutions to real-world problems
This enables students to engage with and understand the implications of Science locally as well as globally. These skills will serve them in whatever career pathway they choose to follow.
