NCEA L3 Career Development

Course Description

A course to assist people to develop and explore a  career option.

Students select courses from external providers that match their career interest. For one term  students work will be on driver education.

This course is designed to assist students who want a Gateway Placement. Students who do not want a Gateway placement can also select this course on the understanding that a programme of study at NCEA level 3 will be offered but if students do not have a Restricted Drivers Licence they may not be able to access all the level 3 credits offered. 

Level 3 Credits are available through:

Legal Studies Unit Standards

Travel and Tourism Standards.

Consumer/financial Standards



Course Overview

Term 1
Students will complete compulsory Unit Standards or Career Planning and Health and Safety.

Term 2
Students will either be working on driver education standards or work that matches their career interest.

Term 3
Students will either be working on driver education standards or work that matches their career interest.

Term 4
Students will be completing standards that they have not finished.

Recommended Prior Learning

No recommended prior learning required, although CDV2, or CDVA or CDVB would be an advantage as would a Restricted Drivers Licence.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

If students choose to complete a Health and Safety course offered by an external provider, there will be a part payment for Gateway students. Other students may want to do this course and if they choose this option , the full course fee will be charged.
