Social Sciences - Tikanga ā Iwi

Graduates from Social Science courses will have developed knowledge and skills to think critically, weigh evidence, understand a range of perspectives, be aware of bias – to learn about the world they live in, in context.

At Marlborough Boys’ College, this will range from recognising the impact of a story portrayed on a 2500-year-old Greek vase, to recommending the best location for building a high school in

Marlborough; and recognising the legacy of racism in societies, to recommending the best marketing option for a business start-up.

The Social Sciences encompass a diverse range of subjects. Therefore, graduates will display a wide array of skills. By being informed about their world, they can conduct an intelligent conversation.

By asking challenging, informed questions, Social Scientists conduct research to gather evidence to formulate an educated opinion and take action as responsible citizens.
