NMIT Marlborough Campus

 Standards offer vary depending on which course of study is undertaken. Students must apply for these courses and we cannot guarantee a place. Collect application forms from the Careers and Transition Department Term 3.

Courses offered every Thursday at the NMIT Marlborough Campus are:

Automotive Engineering

Aviation Engineering (Based at Woodbourne)

Salon Skills - Hair Design and Beauty Therapy

Green Pathways - Primary Industry Fundamentals (replaces Wine Cellar Operations)


Nelson Campus

Courses offered at NMIT Nelson Campus 

Mechanical Engineering, Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical, Hairdressing, Hospitality, Creative Design for Hair and Make Up, Sport and Exercise, Art and Design, Digital Technology, Health and Support Services. Students are transported over to Nelson on Fridays. Please note the transport leaves very early at 6.45am and so students who arrive at Marlborough Boys' College by bus will arrive too late to catch the NMIT bus.

Recommended Prior Learning

There is no recommended prior learning.


Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There is no charge. For courses at NMIT Blenheim, a bus, for rural students, collects students from Marlborough Girls' College and transports them to the Budge Street campus and returns them in time to catch a connecting bus home.

Pathway

Trades Academy courses are not a stand alone option and so will not replace a 'subject' or 'line' on the timetable. Enrollments are done online by clicking on the TOTSA 'Top of the South Trades Academy' link below. Please note that final approval to any course needs to be supported by both TOTSA and the MBC Trades Academy Coordinator.

Career Pathways

Assessment Information

Both practical and written assessments are by Unit Standards administered by NMIT. The standards student pass are put onto the Marlborough Boys' College system and count towards NCEA qualifications.
