Course Description
Year 10 Technology (Design and Make)
The aim of Design and Make is to follow the Technology Design Process to look at real world problems and find suitable solutions in a local context.
Students in this subject will be finding a suitable solution to solve an existing problem. Students will be working on a local problem that needs a creative solution. Students will achieve their final outcome through a process that involves…… researching, drawing, making models, testing ideas, using 3D printers, prototyping, evaluating, refining and getting feedback from stakeholders on their solutions to create a final outcome.
The skills we develop in this amazing class will help you to prepare for year 11 where you will be able to move into a multitude of design related subject areas such as Materials Technology (Achievement Standards), DVC/Graphics (Achievement Standards) and Furniture (Unit Standards)
Some skills that may be covered include:
3D printing
Model making
Freehand sketching/crating
Rendering - Shading, shadows, and textures
Prototyping
Introduction to Sketchup and Tinkercad.
And other cool design equipment.
Course Overview
Term 1
This one term course has one project which enables the teaching of all the relevant Technology skills and processes in order to produce a successful solution.
The project and context will be discussed with the students during the first week of the course.
