NCEA L2 Sport Studies B
Course Description
This course is suited to students who are passionate about learning the skills required in the fitness industry or for students who prefer a more hands on approach to learning. In this Semester B course we are 100% focused on giving students the tools required in group training, personal training, and planning effective gym programs.
We complete several Unit Standards at Level 2 and 3 with a focus around skills required in the fitness industry
-Teaching correct and effective stretching techniques. Students are required to run group fitness sessions with their group. this includes, dynamic stretching, warm up, workout, warm down and static stretching
-Planning and reviewing personal gym programs. Through their terms work down at Stadium 2000 gym facility, students are required to plan out their own personal gym sessions, complete these sessions and then review them.

-The science behind the body and how it works, anatomy, physiology.

Pathway
This course leads perfectly into our Year 13 Sport Studies semester A or B courses (SPS3A, SPS3B). The skills learned in this course would also cross over with our Year 13 Outdoor Education courses (OED3A, OED3B) and our Year 13 Physical Education Courses (PED3A, PED3B). Content completed in this course also links well with our Year 13 Rugby Academy courses, (RAC3A, RAC3B).
