CON3

NCEA L3 Construction

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Palatchie.

This course builds upon the skills acquired in CON2 in readiness for moving you to the next stage in your lives outside school; the Construction industry of today. You will be taking industry based standards that will hold you in good stead for getting an apprenticeship.

Projects are designed around the skills that you need to acquire and the tools and machinery that you master.

Course Overview

Term 1
For this course, you will undertake projects designated by your instructor that adhere to the unit standards and encompass foundational skills essential in the construction industry.

By this point, you should possess comprehensive knowledge of the design process, including the significance of client input and the requirement to deliver precise and meticulously crafted results.

Throughout the course, you will receive guidance akin to that given to an apprentice. Consequently, your choices regarding materials and construction methods will be subject to discussion. It will be your responsibility to present your rationale to the instructor, substantiating the decisions made from initial concept to final deliverable.

Term 2
Continuation from Term 1.

Term 3
Continuation from Term 2.

Term 4
Completing all projects and making sure that all associated standards have been completed.

Recommended Prior Learning

It would help if you have already completed CON2. However, if through timetable clashes you missed out on this choice last year, you can request an interview with either Mr. Ben Eustace or Mr. John McLean so that you can be considered, if appropriate.
