Course Description Recommended Prior Learning

This course is open entry. However, some level of understanding or experience about Art or Digital Technology would be an advantage.


Level 2 Photography - Semester 1 (Code: PHT2A)                                                                                         This option is available as a 'taster' course (1 semester only) and towards Level 3, or as a pre-requisite for students who would like endorse in this subject. To endorse, students must complete both Semester 1 & 2. 

Introduction to the course includes the development of skills in photography and art thinking. Students are encouraged to draw from their environment and make artworks recognizing the conventions used in photographic practice. Use of studio lighting, time lapse and various indoor and outdoor photoshoots is expected. 

Additionally, a research project with L1 Literacy credits attached, may be completed.  All developing skills lead towards the 12 credit folio. 

The two panel folio (12 credits) is only available in Semester 2 (Code: PHT2B). This is an External standard thus course endorsement is available if both Semester 1 and 2 are chosen.

Semester A
Semester A (PHT2A)
– Internals only (2.2 - 4 credits, 2.3 - 4 credits) will be offered. A research standard (2.1 - 4 credits) may be offered.
This is available as a 'taster course' or as a gateway to folio and Level 3 Visual Arts courses.

Students who wish to complete the external 12-credit folio (2.4) will need to also select Semester B. (PHT2B)
This allows for course endorsement.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Contribution to the take-home component of this course is expected. The specialist paper, printing costs and cardboards for folio is part of this.
