GRA2
Course Description Recommended Prior Learning

You need to have gained credits in either NCEA Level 1 Graphics and Design or NCEA Level 1 Materials Technology.

One of the key characteristics for you as a Graphics student (Design and Visual Communication) is the need for you to develop your ability to explore and develop potential real-world opportunities from a simple idea through to a working solution.

On this course, you will be asked to develop a product and a spatial design within the Marlborough region. This could be associated with a variety of design contexts e.g. environmental,  cultural, social, historical, or technological. You will need to consider, who the design is for and the aesthetic and functional requirements.

Course Overview

located within the constraints of a specified location, enhance the experience of a chosen community whether that be within a winery, for example or within a Marae.

You will also investigate a design era or design movement and explain the aesthetic and functional characteristics of the design movement or era. This research will be used to inspire your own design.

Term 2
Term 2 is focused on exploring and designing a set to display your product. This second stage builds upon architectural and spatial design.
