Course Overview

Semester B
Safe operation of a Quad bike- this Unit Standard looks at the legal requirements and the safe operation of a quad bike.

Safe Operation of a Motorcycle - this Unit Standard looks at the legal requirements and the safe operation of a motorcycle.

Stock Care and Management Practices- this Achievement Standard looks at animal behaviours and how we can reduce stress and improve efficiency in carrying out management practices. Students can focus on their chosen livestock and find out how tasks such as mustering, tailing, walking cows to the shed, drenching etc are carried out to be efficient but also reduce stress on the animals.

Management Practices to Influence Animal Growth and Development- This Achievement Standard looks at different management practices and how they can be used to alter animal growth and development and how this affects farmer profit. For example how unfavourable environmental conditions are managed- using feed, timing, and/or placement to reduce the effects. It has an external exam so it will be optional.
