Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Thornley

A specialised Mathematics course designed to prepare students for careers in Science, Medicine, Computing, Data Science and Statistical Analysis covering; Elements of Chance, Statistical Inference and Probability.


Recommended Prior Learning

Students need to have NCEA Level one Numeracy and have Achieved in AS91037 (1.12) - Understanding Chance and Data and either AS91035 (1.10) - Multivariate Data or AS91036 (1.11) - Bivariate Data. Places may be limited in which case results will be ranked and places allocated on that basis.

Due to the amount of report writing required a high level of Literacy and reading comprehension will be required.

Ruler
1J5 5mm quad book (about three for the year)
Scientific calculator
A textbook will be issued to the student for the year. It is the student's responsibility and must be returned in good condition at the end of the year.
Additional resources are available for an additional charge, these are not compulsory.
Students are to bring all equipment to every lesson.
