NCEA L1 Mathematics for Engineering and Science
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Thornley
A specialised Mathematics course designed to prepare students for careers in engineering, science or pure Mathematics covering; Numeric Reasoning, Linear Algebra, Trigonometry, Algebraic Reasoning, Tables, Equations and Graphs and Geometric Reasoning.
All standards are tagged for NCEA Level one Numeracy.
A strong work ethic and a commitment to between one and two hours of independent study every week are required for success in this course.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students require Curriculum Level 5P in Number, Measurement and Algebra for entry to this course.
In the event that the course is oversubscribed students will be ranked and selected based on their results.

1J5 5mm quad book (about three for the year)
Scientific calculator
A laptop for parts of the course, MBC can provide a day loan if necessary.
A textbook will be issued to the student for the year. It is the student's responsibility and must be returned in good condition at the end of the year.
Additional resources are available for an additional charge, these are not compulsory.
Students are to bring all equipment to every lesson.
