NCEA L2 Mathematics - general A

This NCEA L2 (curriculum level 7) Mathematics semester course covers;
Coordinate geometry (internal 2 credits, one-period in-class assessment).
Apply co-ordinate geometry methods in solving problems involves: selecting and using methods, demonstrating knowledge of geometric concepts and terms and communicating using appropriate representations.
Network methods (internal 2 credits, one-period in-class assessment).
Apply graphical methods in solving problems involves: selecting and using methods, demonstrating knowledge of the properties of functions and graphs and communicating using appropriate representations.
Trigonometric relationships (internal 3 credits, one-period in-class assessment).
Apply trigonometric relationships in solving problems involves: selecting and using methods, demonstrating knowledge of trigonometric concepts and terms and communicating using appropriate representations.
Can be combined with either MAC2B (business), MAT2B (general) or MAS2C (statistics) for a full-year endorsable course.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students require a minimum of 10 Mathematics credits at NCEA L1 to enter any NCEA L2 Mathematics course. It is strongly recommended that students have achieved at least two of AS91029, AS91031 and AS91032 at NCEA L1 to ensure they have the prior knowledge to succeed in this course.
In order to achieve success at NCEA L2 (curriculum level 7) students need to be present for more than 85% of classes, actively engaged during every lesson and complete between two and three hours of independent study every week.

1J5 5mm quad book (about three for the year),
A Graphics calculator is beneficial but not compulsory.
A textbook will be issued to the student for the year. It is the student's responsibility and must be returned in good condition at the end of the year.
Additional resources are available for an additional charge, these are not compulsory.
Students are to bring all equipment to every lesson.

Internally Assessed Credits: 7 credits.
