Course Description
Level 2 Painting - Semester A (Code: PTG2A)
This is a course designed for students keen to develop their Painting and general art skills. Many students will choose to extend painting skills in media such as acrylic and oil paint, while others look to upskill in digital painting.
Printmaking, including woodcut and engraving, are also possible media in this course.
Mixed media and some sculpture is also encouraged as students explore their choice of ideas. Observational and freehand drawing skills extended and students may also wish to draw digitally.
The painting process will support the development of research and thinking skills. Students will choose their own ideas and themes to explore in this course.
In Semester B (PTG2B), a 12 credit, 2 panel folio may be produced by those who are choose both Semester A and B. (PTG2A + PTG2B)
The planning and successful production of the external folio will allow for 12 external credits to be completed and 'course endorsement'.
With teacher guidance, every student will produce their own range of ideas and artworks. It will often reflect their interests and aspirations.

Course Overview
Semester A
Level 2 - Semester A – (Code: PTG2A) - Internals only (2.2 - 4 credits, 2.3 - 4 credits) will be offered.
This is available as a 'taster course' or as a gateway to folio and Level 3 Visual Arts courses.
Students who wish to complete the 12-credit folio (2.4) will need to also select Semester B.
This enables course endorsement.
Recommended Prior Learning
This course is open entry. However, some level of understanding about Art, experience in Painting or Digital Technology would be an advantage.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Contribution to the take-home costs is expected. This includes costs associated with folio production.
Pathway
Students at Level 2 may take more than one Visual Arts subject

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
Total Credits Available: 28 credits.
Externally Assessed Credits: 12 credits.
Internally Assessed Credits: 16 credits.
